The Murray brothers have been part of the University of Iowa’s rise to prominence. In the 2021-2022 season, younger brother Keegan was the ace, averaging 23.5 points and 8.7 rebounds. His older brother, Chris, supported him with 9.7 points and 4.3 rebounds.
Keegan has since declared his NBA ambitions. Touted as the next Khris Middleton, Keegan was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Keegan’s talents shined in the NBA, as he excelled on both ends of the floor, averaging 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 41.1 percent shooting from three-point range in a successful rookie season.
Chris, on the other hand, remained at the University of Iowa. He filled his brother’s shoes, averaging 20.2 points and 7.9 rebounds last season.
“Coming back to college, I had to take on more of a role,” says Chris. Keegan was one of the leaders on the team. After he left, someone had to step up and fill his void.”
The brothers have always played basketball together since they were kids, so it was a bit awkward last season when they were separated.
“We were like roommates and best friends for life,” says Chris. It felt weird to not have Keegan on the court with me at the beginning of the season,” explains Chris.
Next season would be different. With Chris declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft, the brothers will now be able to see each other on the court 안전놀이터추천.
“After the season, I worked out with my brother for five days in Chicago,” Keegan says. I showed him some of the things I learned in the NBA. We talked about life in the NBA,” Keegan said.
Heading into the draft, Chris is projected to go in the mid-to-late first round. His strengths are similar to his brother’s: defense.
As one Western Conference scout put it, “Chris Murray has great size, athleticism, and shooting ability. He’s a good defender. He’s good at blocking shots.”
Kris and Keegan are looking forward to playing together on the same team as they did in college. Sacramento holds the 24th pick in the first round of the draft, but it’s unclear if they’ll select Kris.
“We can always win wherever we go,” Chris said. We have good chemistry, so I’d love to play with him, maybe not right away, but someday,” he laughed.
