The South Korean women’s volleyball team suffered its second straight loss at the Paris Olympic Qualification.
South Korea fell 1-3 (22-25 26-24 21-25 9-25) to Poland in the second match of the Paris Olympic Qualification Group C on Monday (Aug. 18) in Łódź, Poland. It was the second straight loss for the Koreans, who fell 0-3 in their first match against Italy.
South Korea will face Italy, Poland, Germany, USA, Colombia, Thailand and Slovenia in the next round of qualifying. The team must finish in the top two out of eight teams to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
Korea struggled on the day, with Kang So-hwi scoring 16 points and Pyo Seung-joo adding 15, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the loss.
In the first set, Korea fell behind 11-18 early on. They fought back to 22-24 on a Lake Bi, but were unable to pull away. In the second set, Kang So-hwi and Pyo Seung-joo scored back-to-back points to win the deuce-ending set. It was the first set win for Korea in the tournament 토토사이트.
In the third set, the Koreans fought hard but fell behind Poland in the final minutes, losing 21-25. In the fourth set, they were outclassed and eventually lost the match.
Korea will play Germany in the third match of the preliminary round on Nov. 19.
